About the product
3M™ Cavilon™ Advanced Skin Protectant is a polymer-cyanoacrylate-based waterproof skin protectant that forms a barrier film designed to help prevent or manage moderate to severe Moisture-Associated Skin Damage (MASD). The ultra-thin, yet highly durable barrier can attach to wet, weepy skin and create a protective environment that repels irritants and supports healing.

Cavilon Advanced Skin Protectant is different than traditional skin protectant ointments, even under the most challenging conditions. Use this revolutionary skin protectant to stop, reverse — and even prevent — IAD.*
With a long-lasting barrier that protects the skin for up to 7 days, Cavilon Advanced Skin Protectant is also breathable, allowing for moisture-vapor transmission that helps keep skin comfortable. Plus, it does not require removal, and the surface is easily cleansed, making wear easier for patients and care easier for staff.

- Provides an effective barrier, which has been shown to reduce the pain of managing incontinence-associated dermatitis (IAD)* and helps to prevent skin damage from body fluids *3M™ Cavilon™ Advanced Skin Protectant is not an analgesic
- Lasts up to 7 days and may be applied 1-3 times per week
- Attaches to damaged, wet and weepy skin
- Available in 2 sizes including 2.7ml applicator coverage area of approx. 100 sq. inches and 0.7ml applicator coverage area of approx. 25 sq. inches
- Single-use applicator is easy to activate and use and allows for easy product dispensing
- Product dries in approximately 30 seconds and is chemically compatible with chlorhexidine gluconate (CHG), 3M acrylic negative pressure drapes and 3M vascular access dressings* *Refer to product IFU for full product guidance and use
- Forms a highly durable, long-lasting and unique elastomeric polymer barrier that helps prevent fracturing and cracking associated with pure cyanoacrylate films
- Does not diminish adherence of adhesive products (tapes, dressings, ostomy appliances)
Suggested Applications
- Ideal for managing damaged or broken skin and protecting at-risk or compromised skin from MASD (including Incontinence Associated Dermatitis, Peristomal Skin Damage, Periwound Skin Damage and Intertriginous Dermatitis (ITD)) and irritants (such as liquid stool, mixed feces/urine, gastric fluid and chronic wound exudate moisture, friction and/or shear, a leading factor in pressure ulcer/injury development)
- Manage superficial pressure injury in difficult-to-dress locations
- Manage existing superficial skin damage (e.g. stripping, skin tears) from adhesive use
