Designed to help you manage a challenging open abdomen, the 3M™ AbThera™ SensaT.R.A.C™ Open Abdomen Dressing is a temporary abdominal closure (TAC) device. It uses 3M™ AbThera Therapy to remove primary fascial closure and protect abdominal contents from external contamination.

Whether your patient has experienced a traumatic injury or requires sepsis management, the method of temporary abdominal closure you choose may play an important role in positive clinical and economic outcomes.2
Combining Negative Pressure Therapy provided by the 3M™ V.A.C.® Ulta Therapy Unit with the 3M™ AbThera SensaT.R.A.C. Dressing provides an active temporary abdominal closure system that removes fluids from the abdominal cavity and draws wound edges together. This TAC method helps you achieve primary fascial closure while protecting your patients’ abdominal contents from external contaminants.
The 3M™ AbThera™ SensaT.R.A.C.™ Open Abdomen Dressing has several features and components that make it an excellent choice for your abdominal surgical needs.
- The 3M™ AbThera™ Fenestrated Visceral Protective Layer manifolds negative pressure throughout the abdomen, enhances fluid removal from paracolic gutters and provides separation between the abdominal wall and viscera while protecting the abdominal contents.
- The 3M™ V.A.C.® Drape provides a closed system to help isolate and protect abdominal contents from the external environment.
- The 3M™ SensaT.R.A.C.™ Pad facilitates fluid removal from the dressing and provides monitoring of negative pressure during therapy.
- Use the 3M™ AbThera™ Advance Open Abdomen Dressing with the 3M™ V.A.C.® Ulta Therapy Unit for Temporary Abdominal Closure (TAC).

Suggested Applications
- Intended use of this system is in open abdominal wounds with exposed viscera, including, but not limited to, abdominal compartment syndrome.
- Temporary bridging of abdominal wall openings where primary closure is not possible and/or repeat abdominal entries are necessary.
- Intended care setting is a closely monitored area within the acute care hospital, such as the ICU. The abdominal dressing will most often be applied in the operating theater.
