Education & childcare facilities
Stay ahead of the lead in your children’s drinking water
With your top priority being the well-being of the children you care for at your facility, you have no room for lead in your water.
An aging facility, particularly in long-established communities, has a good chance of lead in its plumbing and water. If your water contains even small amounts of lead, you should act quickly before the EPA’s updated guidelines¹ go into effect. Make sure your water meets the guidelines.
- 15 ppb — EPA Action Level: Actions may include corrosion control techniques, public outreach and education, and lead service line replacement.²
- 10 ppb — EPA Trigger Level: Schools and childcare facilities would need to jumpstart mitigation efforts.¹
- 5 ppb — NSF/ANSI Standard 53 Certification: Ensures that water treatment products have been shown to reduce the lead in drinking water to a fraction of what is required by EPA.³
- 1 ppb — American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP): The most stringent standard is recommended by the AAP in its effort to prevent childhood lead toxicity.⁴
Replacing lead plumbing system is costly, disruptive and time-consuming. Fortunately, you can keep your plumbing and still reduce the lead.
