About the product

Our 3M™ Zeta Plus™ BC Series Filter Capsule with DEL Series Media utilizes precipitated silica adsorbents that help reduce lipids, surfactants and, potentially, other biological contaminants from human blood plasma, serum-based products, recombinant proteins and other biological fluids. The two DEL media types (DELI and DELP) provide a range of lipid reduction capacity.

Product details

Problem:

During protein purification processes, lipid contamination can cause an assortment of processing problems. Lipids can foul and plug expensive chromatography columns and membrane filters. Lipid contamination can also cause solution instability of intermediate and final protein products leading haze.

Solution:

Our Zeta Plus™ BC Series filter capsules with DEL media may be an option to replace bulk precipitated silica operations, which are labor-intensive and require multiple operations to implement. Zeta Plus DEL08 series media can be used to help remove the following lipid classes: mono-, di-, and triglycerides, fatty acids, cholesterol, phospholipids, and lipoproteins. Reduction of lipid contaminants from protein solutions may lead to improved processing economies (e.g., extended column and membrane life), improved product purity, and increased final protein product stability. We manufacture Zeta Plus BC Series Filter Capsules using fluid contact components are compliant to USP <88> Class VI Biological Reactivity Tests.

3M™ Zeta Plus™ BC Series filter capsules with DEL media contains a mixture of precipitated silica aids, cellulose and a crosslinking polymer binder resin. The precipitated silica adsorbents provide the active component for lipid reduction. In addition, the polymer binding resin used in this product family contains a balance of tertiary and quaternary amines resulting in a positively charged media. The surface charge enhances the filtration effectiveness by attracting negatively charged contaminants too small for removal by mechanical sieving.

  • May help reduce undesirable lipids, lipoprotein haze, and microbial and particulate contaminants
  • Full range of cartridge and capsule filter sizes to enable laboratory to full-scale production operation
  • All product components comply with USP <88> Class VI Biological Reactivity Tests, in vivo
  • Tested and optimized for pharmaceutical and biological service and are safe for critical pharmaceutical, bioprocessing and biological applications and components meet USP Class VI Biological Safety Tests and requirements of CFR 21.
  • Totally-enclosed, sanitary-design systems and cartridge housings are easily cleanable, no external contamination, and offers rapid assembly and take down.
